Job Description

Overview:

This position requires constant, one-on-one observation of an individual who may have a critical illness or who may have been placed on an involuntary psych hold. Sitters are not allowed to have any personal belongings in the room with them. Must have a good attitude and have good communication skills. 

 

This role is three 12-hour shifts 7 pm - 7:30 am with a 30 minute meal break. Shift differentials are applicable for evenings, nights, and weekends. 

Responsibilities: The Patient Sitter is responsible for observation of patients who have been assessed as confused, combative, have the potential to cause themselves harm, or are a fall risk. The sitter will contact the staff nurse as appropriate with concerns. The sitter functions under the direct supervision of the nurse responsible for the care of the patient. Qualifications:
