About this opportunity:

Cenovus Lima Refinery is now hiring for an Instrument Technician role where the successful candidate will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and installation of instrumentation and control systems. Work is performed consistent with standard procedures, applicable training, specifications, and regulatory standards, with attention to completing tasks in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner. The duties for this position will be performed in an outdoor process facility under the direction of the Maintenance and Construction department. Skills must be demonstrated prior to the job being awarded. The Instrument Technician must be willing to work overtime as needed.

What you’ll do:

  • Operate diagnostic tools such as: Hart and Honeywell communicators, Beamex calibration equipment, Digital Multi-Meters, laptop computers with diagnostic software systems, and hand tools

  • Troubleshoot and repair instrument system failures by isolating the problem and performing repairs or replacements as required

  • Work with control engineers and operations to properly tune out deviations and disturbances

  • Read and interpret P&ID diagrams and control loop drawings

  • Research manuals, diagrams and perform Internet searches to find information to track down and repair control circuit faults or intermittent disturbances in a wide variety of detection and control elements

  • Have or develop the skills necessary to remove, disassemble, inspect for faults, repair and reassemble instrumentation devices within the refinery

  • Make adjustments to existing equipment to modify performance and operation of these devices as necessary to maintain continuous operation of process equipment

  • Complete work on field devices in high or confined places. Access instruments from scaffolds or mobile platforms. Wear SCBAs or Respirators as required

Who you are:

  • Legally authorized to work in the US

  • High School Diploma or GED required. A technical degree or Journeyman's Certification in a related field considered an asset

  • Valid driver’s license

  • ISA or NICET certification and proficiency working in SAP considered an asset. Experience in refining, petroleum, transportation or closely related work environment considered an asset

  • Working knowledge of computer operating systems, MS Office Applications, various software programs, and diagnostic software

  • Individuals must be prepared to work safely, work outside, work at significant heights and have the willingness and ability to work overtime within hazardous environments
