Position Overview

The FTZ Administrator is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations, compliance, and performance of our Foreign Trade Zone program. This role ensures full adherence to FTZ regulations and U.S. Customs requirements while optimizing operational efficiency and duty savings. You will serve as the primary liaison between the company, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the FTZ Board.

Key Responsibilities

FTZ Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

  • Act as the primary contact for CBP, FTZ Board, and zone representatives
  • Ensure all FTZ operations comply with federal regulations and activation requirements
  • Manage audits, site reviews, and regulatory updates
  • Prepare and submit required FTZ applications, reports, and documentation

Inventory Control & Recordkeeping

  • Oversee inventory tracking systems to ensure real-time accuracy of FTZ merchandise
  • Manage admissions, transfers, exports, and inventory adjustments
  • Conduct cycle counts and annual inventories; resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain audit-ready records in accordance with compliance standards

Entry Processing & Trade Filing

  • Supervise FTZ admissions and weekly entry filings through ACE and internal systems
  • Coordinate with customs brokers and partners to ensure accurate trade documentation
  • Monitor and resolve entry discrepancies, duty payments, and reporting issues

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare required FTZ and CBP reports, including annual filings
  • Generate internal reports on inventory, compliance, and duty savings
  • Track and analyze cost-saving opportunities such as duty deferral and tariff benefits

Process Improvement & Risk Management

  • Develop and maintain SOPs and internal controls for FTZ operations
  • Conduct internal audits to identify and address compliance risks
  • Implement corrective actions to mitigate potential penalties or disruptions

Training & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Train staff on FTZ procedures, compliance requirements, and best practices
  • Partner with operations, finance, legal, and logistics teams to align business goals
  • Manage relationships with brokers, consultants, and software providers

Systems & Technology

  • Oversee FTZ systems, including inventory control and ACE integration
  • Partner with IT to ensure systems remain compliant and up to date
  • Recommend and implement technology improvements to enhance efficiency

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Trade Compliance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience managing FTZ operations at the operator level preferred
  • Hands-on experience with CBP ACE system, e214 filings, and Weekly Entry processes
  • Familiarity with FTZ software platforms (e.g., Kewill, E2open, or similar)
  • 3PL and warehouse management system (WMS) experience preferred

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of FTZ regulations, U.S. customs processes, and trade compliance
  • Knowledge of HTS classification, valuation, and trade remedies (Section 301, AD/CVD)
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics systems

Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with regular interaction in warehouse/FTZ operations
  • Occasional travel for audits, compliance reviews, or industry events
  • Availability for regulatory audits or inspections as needed
