Production Supervisor

Reports to: Facilities Manager

FLSA Status: Non - Exempt

Department: Prodiction

Location: Forest Park, IL

Pay Range: $20.00 - 22.00 an hour

Position Summary:  

The Production Supervisor oversees daily production operations within a cannabis manufacturing facility, including vape production, concentrate manufacturing, pre-roll production, flower packaging, and related processes. This role is responsible for supervising production staff, coordinating workflows, ensuring compliance with state regulations and company SOPs, and maintaining operational efficiency to meet production goals and quality standards.

The Production Supervisor plays a key role in supporting inventory accuracy, process improvement initiatives, workplace safety, and overall team performance within a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily production, post-harvest, packaging, and manufacturing activities across vape, concentrate, pre-roll, and flower packaging operations.
  • Ensure production schedules, output goals, and deadlines are consistently met.
  • Coordinate staffing assignments and labor allocation based on operational needs and production priorities.
  • Monitor workflow efficiency and identify opportunities for process improvement and increased productivity.
  • Support inventory movement, material handling, batch tracking, and inventory accuracy.
  • Lead, train, coach, and supervise production employees to ensure performance expectations are met.
  • Enforce company SOPs, safety standards, sanitation procedures, and workplace policies.
  • Maintain compliance with Illinois cannabis regulations and company operational procedures.
  • Ensure accurate production documentation and inventory tracking within METRC and internal systems.
  • Monitor product quality standards and ensure proper handling and storage procedures are followed.
  • Assist with audits, inspections, and compliance reporting activities.
  • Track production KPIs, yields, waste metrics, and labor performance data.
  • Escalate operational, staffing, quality, or compliance concerns to management in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and enforce PPE requirements.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration with cultivation, processing, inventory, and compliance teams.
  • Assist management with special projects and operational initiatives as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises production and manufacturing employees within the facility.
Responsible for employee training, coaching, scheduling, performance management, and adherence to company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, cannabis production, food manufacturing, or another regulated production environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience with inventory management, batch tracking, and compliance procedures.
  • Cannabis industry experience and METRC experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance standards.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Must be professional, dependable, and capable of maintaining confidentiality when necessary.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Facility Agent Card (or equivalent license) if required by state regulations.

Education and Certifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, operations, business, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant cannabis industry certifications preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Manual dexterity and the ability to work with production equipment and packaging materials.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and production environments.

Work Environment:

  • Cannabis cultivation and manufacturing facility environment.
  • Fast-paced, team-oriented production setting.
  • Exposure to manufacturing equipment, cannabis odors, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • PPE may be required depending on the operational area and assigned tasks.
  • May require weekends, overtime, and holiday coverage based on operational needs.

Travel Requirements:

  • Minimal travel required, if any.
