Job Description

Farmers Market Associate (with Growth Opportunity)

At Jezabel’s, everything begins with hospitality, intention, and the flavors of Northwest Argentina. Our farmers markets are an essential part of how we connect with the community — a place where people discover our empanadas, pastries, and stories, and where we share the same warmth and craft they’ll experience when visiting the bakery.

We’re looking for a friendly, organized, and reliable person to join our farmers market team. This role begins as a Market Associate, with a clear path to grow into a Market Lead or Farmers Market Manager for the right candidate.

Season: Year round, with peaks between April and October.
Schedule: Weekends required
Compensation: Hourly + tips (based on experience)

Why Farmers Markets Matter to Jezabel’s

  • They extend our hospitality into the neighborhoods we serve.
  • They introduce customers to our culture, values, and made-from-scratch foods.
  • They create long-term relationships with regulars who later visit the café, preorder online, and follow us on social media.
  • They are often the first point of contact for new guests—so the market team is an ambassador for everything we do.
  • This makes your role both operational and deeply connected to our mission.

What You’ll Do (Associate Level)

  • Set up and break down the Jezabel’s market stand (tent, tables, signage, pastry displays).
  • Welcome customers warmly, make eye contact, and share the story behind Jezabel’s.
  • Offer product knowledge and answer ingredient or preparation questions.
  • Operate a simple POS system accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, visually beautiful stand.
  • Restock items and communicate sell-through updates during the market.
  • Transport products and equipment safely to and from market locations.

What Growth Looks Like (Lead / Manager Track)

As you gain experience, you may begin to:

  • Oversee full setup, flow, and breakdown without supervision.
  • Manage weekly inventory, product counts, and reporting.
  • Coordinate directly with the kitchen about pastry and empanada needs.
  • Track sales and customer feedback.
  • Train new market staff and model best practices.
  • Maintain brand consistency through uniform, stand layout, and engagement style.
This path is ideal for someone who wants to grow into a seasonal, flexible leadership role—or a longer-term position within Jezabel’s.

What We’re Looking For

  • Outgoing, warm, and kind energy — hospitality comes first.
  • Ability to share Jezabel’s story in a natural and engaging way.
  • Comfort working outdoors in all weather (rain, heat, wind, cold).
  • Strong punctuality and reliability (markets run on exact timelines).
  • Ability to lift 40–50 lbs (tents, coolers, pastry boxes).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Spanish-speakers encouraged to apply.
  • Customer service or hospitality experience is helpful but not required.

Uniform & Presence (Aligned with the Operations Guide)

  • Clean, on-brand attire (white, muted tones; branded sweatshirt; navy chore coat in colder months).
  • Neat appearance, hair pulled back, minimal accessories.
  • Closed-toe, non-slip shoes.
  • Present yourself as friendly, professional, and approachable — you are the face of Jezabel’s at the market.

What Makes This Role Special

You won’t just be “selling.” You will be:

  • Sharing the story behind our pastries and empanadas.
  • Engaging with customers who deeply value small businesses.
  • Creating a warm, memorable stop in someone’s weekend market ritual.
  • Helping strengthen Jezabel’s presence across Philadelphia.
  • Growing into a leadership role if that’s your goal.
We look forward to hearing from you
