Transit Bus Service Attendant (Part-Time)

Location: Sarasota

Pay Rate: $18/hr.

Schedule: Part-Time | Wednesday – Sunday | 7:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.

Job Summary

Performs routine servicing, cleaning, and fueling of transit buses and support vehicles to ensure they are properly maintained, clean, and ready for daily operations. This role supports transit operations by maintaining vehicle cleanliness, monitoring fluid levels, and assisting with basic yard movements of buses.

Essential Job Functions

Vehicle Servicing and Maintenance Support

• Checks and monitors vehicle fluid levels including coolant, engine oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, windshield washer fluid, and diesel exhaust fluid. Training will be provided.
• Fuels transit buses and support vehicles in accordance with established procedures.
• Records vehicle mileage, vehicle number, fuel gallons, and fluid levels on the fuel sheet matrix form.

Bus Cleaning and Detailing

• Cleans bus interiors including windows, seats, dash areas, and driver compartment areas around pedals.
• Sweeps and mops bus floors to maintain cleanliness and safety.
• Cleans the exterior of buses, including wheels and tires, by hand or using the automatic bus washer as needed.

Transit Operations Support

• Drives buses within the transit yard and safely navigates around fueling islands and service areas.
• Updates public service messages displayed inside buses.
• Probes and removes GFI cash boxes in accordance with operational procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License as a condition of continued employment.

Substance Screening Requirement

This position is subject to a pre-employment substance screening . Applicants who fail to pass a required drug screening test will be disqualified from employment in any classification for a period of five (5) years .
