Venture Academy is seeking a full-time Social Studies teacher. We are looking for a teacher who can start this upcoming school year.

Who are we?

Venture Academy is a small 6th-12th grade charter school in Southeast Minneapolis. At Venture Academy, we provide a future-focused education to enrich our students. We are driven by our mission: students overcome whatever barriers they may face to become successful and happy adults in their chosen path.

Qualifications desired (but not limited to):

• Minnesota teaching license (traditional or alternative pathways both welcome)
• Demonstrated success working with students (preferably low-income and students of color)
• Knowledge and understanding of Minnesota K-12 Academic Standards
• Knowledge and experience with formative and summative assessment
• Knowledge and experience of data-driven instruction
• Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with peers
• Willingness to receive coaching and instructional feedback
• Experience working with students with disabilities
• Experience working with Multi Language Learners
• Knowledge of the IEP process and requirements

Responsibilities included (but not limited to):

• Provide standards-based social studies instruction to students
• Implement best practice curriculum through Google Classroom
• Collaborate with Special Education and other EL teachers to ensure the curriculum is appropriately accommodated and modified
• Mentor teacher to a small group of students
• Grade and track progress
• Proactively communicate with parents and families regarding student progress
• Participate in professional learning community (PLC)
• Attend school-sponsored events
